It deals 18 damage every 0.4 seconds — roughly 45 damage per second — as a melee attacker that must close to contact before it can act. It hovers above the ground, so terrain-clipping creature attacks miss it entirely.
How many pets you may field at once scales with player level. Pets need no upkeep and re-engage automatically as you move.
